Rescued food that has been saved from going to waste and is instead donated or distributed to people who lack reliable access to adequate food. Rescued food can come from various sources, including grocery stores, restaurants, farms, and food processing facilities.
The food that is rescued can take different forms, including fresh produce, baked goods, meat, dairy products, canned goods, packaged foods or prepared foods. It can be food that is nearing its expiration date, overstocked or unsold inventory, or excess food from catered events and restaurants.
The rescued food is still safe for consumption and can provide nutritious meals to those who are experiencing food insecurity. We can prevent it from going into waste when we quickly mobilize the community to rescue it from partnering food retailers and deliver it to non-profits who are serving those experiencing food insecurity.
